History

The Alpha Chi Professional Fraternity was founded on December 11th, 1902, at the University of Wisconsin. From humble beginnings, our organization has grown to include 53 collegiate chapters and professional chapters spanning 17 districts around the country. More than 68,000 men and women have joined our order for the advancement of chemistry and an everlasting, fraternal bond.

The ΓI chapter of Alpha Chi Sigma was established on February 7th, 1987 by Mark Evaniak and Nelson Daniels. Since this time, Gamma Iota has been incredibly active in serving the Blacksburg/Christiansburg area, earning the fraternity's Three Star Chapter Award fourteen times since 1990. Our chapter lives by the objects of the Alpha Chi Sigma fraternity:

To bind its members with a tie of true and lasting friendship

To strive for the advancement of chemistry both as a science and as a profession

To aid its members by every honorable means in the attainment of their ambitions as chemists throughout their mortal lives
